On 16th July 1969, at 1.32 pm, the Saturn V rocket of the Apollo 11 mission took off from Cape Canaveral; on 20th July, 1969, the lunar module Eagle, carrying Aldrin and Armstrong, landed on the Tranquillitatis Sea. In memory of this recurrence, I will exhibit in a show recent works with subject the Moon; six works tribute to Galileo Galilei; two works as a tribute to Leonardo Da Vinci; a production in watercolor technique with subject the Moon and other rocky planets of the solar system, such as Mars and Venus.

If you photograph the Moon and process the images digitally, saturating them from the chromatic point of view, the colors of the moon emerge: blue, purple, orange, white. Each of them has a scientific meaning: blue indicates the presence of titanium, purple and orange the shortage of iron and titanium; white refers to the presence of silicon, aluminum and metal oxides in the most recent material of impact craters. Since 1999, the year in which I painted the first Moon, I returned a personal visual interpretation of the satellite's color spectrum, mixing real colors with imagined colors. Art and science are two passions that I have kept alive since the beginning. The flight, the flying man, the earth seen from space, the moon, the rocky planets are the subjects of study of my research, which, over the course of twenty years, has produced a substantial tribute to science and a personal atlas of cosmos.

The first realistic and artistic representation of the Moon was given back by Galileo Galilei. I chose to pay homage to the illustrious scientist with one of my works: the six "Moon Drawings" that Galileo created in 1609, while observing the telescope satellite, kept in the National Central Library of Florence, were reinterpreted by me applying the same technique used by Galileo, the watercolor, to a mixed support of contemporary paper and fragments of ancient paper.

All the works on display are commented in the IZI.travel audio guide
